Reading Dinner Theater

Last night was Reading Dinner Theater at Maddie's school. I was one of the volunteers, so I got to go with her. It was such a cute event. The kids were divided into groups of about 10 and we all met in a classroom. After all the kids arrived, we headed to the cafeteria for dinner and a show. There was a comedian that had the kids cracking up for an hour! He would use big cards with different words for the kids to all read, then he would do various performances around the words using different kids. All of the kids were going crazy raising their hands to be part of the show. After the perfomance we went back to our groups and different readers rotated around the classrooms to read stories to the kids. We had Mrs. Frizzle, the Chick Fil A cow and an actual author who wrote a book about her kids and the pony that appeared in their backyard one day. Each kid brought a book with them and we did a book swap at the end of the night.
