Our new library

We went to the grand opening of the new Main Library downtown today. It is amazing. The library is over 300,000 square feet and holds one million books. We are so excited it is open and is so close. We can park at the river down the street and walk over the riverwalk to get there -- it is just over one mile. The library has outdoor courtyards off of each floor with tables, chairs, benches, and a reflecting pool. There is even a bookstore and cafe inside the library. The second floor has a children's library and a children's theater. Here are some pictures of us at the new library -- we had a blast!

Here is the outside of the library. It is a few blocks from the Landing, right next to the Museum of Modern Art and across the street from a nice park (they sometimes have story time at the park):

Here is the entrance to the children's library...

Here is the courtyard off of the 2nd floor (where the children's section is)...
Here is the children's theater (there is a talking owl that tells stories)...
Here is Joani, Maddie & Jake in a boat that has benches to read your books in...
Here is Sam and Maddie looking for books...
Here is Sam reading one of the books to Maddie (Jake is also trying to get in on the action)...
Pretty cool library, says Jake!!
